Together with William Fan, we organized an exhibition during Gallery Weekend at Fanplaza—his Berlin-based space that sits at the intersection of fashion, art, and community. Known for his thoughtful approach to identity, culture, and craftsmanship, William Fan creates environments that go beyond clothing, opening up dialogues between different creative disciplines. The exhibition brought together sculpture and space in a way that invited visitors to slow down and reflect, offering an intimate counterpoint to the fast pace of the city during Gallery Weekend.
The body in these sculptures stands for more than appearance. It is the shell that carries our thoughts, emotions, and experiences through the world. Made from a mix of different materials such as soap, silicone, resin and wax, the bodies shift between fragility and permanence—at times appearing almost dissolvable, at others strangely preserved. Their surfaces hold traces of touch, time, and transformation, emphasizing a state of becoming rather than a fixed form—a body that exists without disguise. It allows light to pass through in different ways, making the body appear both present and slightly exposed.
